An Intro to Family Here at Root & Build
Long before the Church was established…
Before the temple was built or the tabernacle raised…
God created the family.
In a garden, He formed man and woman. He gave them a home. And in that sacred space, He planted the first seeds of legacy…rooted in love, nurtured in relationship.
Family is God’s most treasured design.
It reflects His very nature—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—in unity, love, and purpose. Scripture shows us that the husband is called to lead like Christ, with sacrificial love. The wife comes alongside as a nurturing guide and helper, echoing the comfort and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. And children? They are the disciples in training…learning His ways at home so they can bring light into a world longing for truth.
When we live out His design, our homes become more than dwellings—they become living testimonies of God’s forgiveness, joy, grace, and presence.

Which is exactly why the family is the enemy’s #1 target.
Instead of a loving Father, the world sees a harsh judge.
Instead of grace, it sees guilt.
Instead of belonging, it feels abandonment.
But when we invite God into our rhythms, our routines, and even our messes, home becomes holy ground. When God is the hearth, our homes become a place where the true character of our Creator is reflected; not as a distant ruler, but as a near and nurturing Father who walks with us in the everyday moments of life.
A God who laughs with His children.
Who rejoices in their growth.
“For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty Savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17b
“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.” — Psalm 127:3
This isn’t just sentiment—it’s sacred truth.
And when we begin to see family through that lens, our ordinary moments—bedtime snuggles, dinnertime conversations, Saturday morning pancakes—become eternal investments. This space is here to help you build something sacred in the everyday. Your home can be holy ground—even when it’s noisy, messy, and full of laundry.
In the Family section of the blog, you’ll find:
- Simple ways to invite God into ordinary moments—like praying while folding laundry, reading Scripture over breakfast, or playing worship music during family game night
- Faith-filled activities that enrich your time together and strengthen the bonds that hold your family close
- Gentle guidance for creating or reimagining meaningful family traditions centered on Christ
- Encouragement to lead with grace and walk in your God-given roles as moms, dads, sons, daughters, and siblings
- Practical ideas for weaving God’s design for the family into your rhythms—without guilt or pressure, but with purpose and joy
- Inspiration to add meaning and intentionality to your routines, even in busy or fragile seasons
Because discipleship doesn’t just happen during Bible study.
It happens in giggles at the dinner table, in tears after a hard day, in late-night conversations, and while baking cookies on a rainy Saturday.
Whether you spend time together hiking, cooking, playing video games, geocaching, or sitting around a campfire, what matters is presence…and purpose.
Where Family Becomes Faithful Ground
At Root & Build, we’re here to equip and encourage you…to help you point your family toward grace, truth, and joy in Christ. Because strong families don’t just happen…
They’re built one ordinary, holy moment at a time.
God doesn’t expect perfection.
He sees your heart, not your highlight reel.
He doesn’t care about your Instagram—He cares about your intimacy with Him.
Just as you long to be part of your child’s life, He longs to be part of yours.
Whether you’re starting new traditions or reclaiming old ones, I’m honored to walk alongside you as you create a home rooted in God’s design and built on His love.
So, friend…
What’s one small way you can invite God into your family’s rhythm this week?
Whether it’s a bedtime prayer, a verse on the fridge, or simply putting down your phone to be fully present—He will meet you there.
Let’s slow down, lean in, and nurture a legacy of faith—together.
