An Intro to Creation Here at Root & Build

From the tiniest wildflower to the grandest galaxy, God’s glory is woven into every corner of creation. The rising sun, the sea turtle’s swim, the laughter over fresh-picked strawberries—all whisper His name. When we slow down, step outside, and open our eyes to His handiwork, creation becomes a cathedral—one that points our children (and us) back to the Creator.

Some of my most sacred moments of worship haven’t happened inside a sanctuary…but on a paddleboard gliding through a spring-fed river, in the dirt of my backyard garden, or watching birds dance across the morning sky. God’s fingerprints are everywhere!!!

And that’s something I want our children to experience too.

In today’s fast-paced, screen-saturated world, our kids desperately need space to slow down, to look up, and to listen. They need to get their hands dirty and their hearts stirred, to feel the nearness of God in rustling leaves, blooming flowers, crawling caterpillars, and quiet sunsets. To know that He is not distant; He is near, and He is with them.

From the very beginning, God called us to this.
In Genesis, He placed Adam in the garden and gave him a holy task:

“The Lord placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.” Genesis 2:15

That same invitation to steward the earth has been passed down to us—and it’s one we can joyfully share with our children.

This space is dedicated to helping your family notice, enjoy, and care for God’s creation—together. Whether you’re planting marigolds, studying butterflies, floating in a spring, or watching the sunset from your porch, these moments matter. They anchor your child’s heart in wonder and point their eyes to the One who made it all.

Inside the Creation category, you’ll find:

  • Nature as worship – Devotions and reflections that show how the forest, sky, soil, and even our own bodies declare the glory of God (Psalm 19:1, Romans 1:20).
  • Faith + science activities – Hands-on learning that connects Scripture with the natural world—bridging Bible truth with curiosity and awe.
  • Stewardship projects – Simple ways to care for God’s creation—like planting pollinator gardens, collecting litter, or building bird feeders and bee hotels.
  • Compassionate care – Ideas to nurture both the land and each other—such as gathering shoes for Soles for Hope, preparing food from your garden to share, or creating blessing bags for the homeless.
  • Everyday awe and gratitude – Encouragement to notice God’s presence in the small and sacred—like dew on the grass, a shooting star, or clouds shaped like camels.

Whether your child is a budding scientist, a quiet nature-lover, or just loves to dig in the dirt, this space will help them (and you!) see God’s hand in every leaf, seed, and stone.

Because caring for creation is more than an educational moment—it’s a discipleship opportunity.

Let’s Raise Noticers, Nurturers, and Nature-Lovers

When we teach our children to appreciate the world God made, we teach them to appreciate the One who made them. We help them develop hearts of gratitude, minds rooted in truth, and hands ready to serve.

Gardening becomes worship.
Stewardship becomes obedience.
Exploration becomes a form of praise.

Let’s build sacred family rhythms that reflect God’s care and creativity: hiking, gardening, camping, birdwatching, or simply marveling at the moon.

Creation isn’t just something to admire.
It’s something to engage with, protect, and explore…together.

So go ahead—dig in the dirt, chase fireflies, plant seeds of wonder.
Because when we tend to the world He made, we draw closer to the One who made it.
